YouTube
Video Contest
Time to get creative ...
Announcing ... the first-ever NCTTA YouTube
Video Contest! In need of some extra funding for your
club? Wondering what you could do during a regional meeting
while your team isn’t playing? NCTTA has the answer. Time to
dust off the cameras and show off your directing skills. This
semester, NCTTA launches the first official YouTube Video
Contest. The winning school/club will receive a $400 gift
certificate. More prizes to be announced, depending on
participation. So, how does this work?
- Capture quality video footage at your upcoming
NCTTA regional tournament.
- Edit your raw video footage to come up with a 1 to 5 minute video.
- Post your video on YouTube for the world to see, and enter the contest by notifying treasurer@nctta.org, by Sunday, March 22.
Note: Only official or transitional schools in good standing that participate
in their regional tournament are allowed to enter.
Once all the entries are in, an NCTTA-appointed panel will review
each video. The school
with the best entry will be announced at the 2009 NCTTA National
Championships, featured on the NCTTA website (and in this newsletter),
and will be awarded the $400 gift certificate. Judges will
take into account the overall quality of your movie, as well as its
promotional value for NCTTA, participating schools, and NCTTA
sponsors. Email
Francois Charvet with any questions you have.

College table tennis and Wisconsin get some serious press
Here’s an excerpt from the article

Table tennis
looking for bigger collegiate role
By Colin Fly
December 26,
2008
MADISON,
Wis. -
It’s the “P”
word that Willy Leparulo dreads.
Pingpong.
“It’s like
putting nails on a chalk board,” Leparulo said. “It’s defeating some of
the stereotype with just the general sport. Hopefully, by calling it
table tennis you get a little bit more respect.”
The
33-year-old Leparulo was a recreational player at Florida State
University 14 years ago and admits that he ran into academic trouble
because he played too much.
Now, he’s an
academic adviser at the school and has been president of the National
Collegiate Table Tennis Association since 2004. The NCTTA’s roots began
in 1992 with the League of Northeast Intercollegiate Table Tennis
before its formal name-change in 1999.

Spring
Eligibility Forms Required
Attention all club leaders, coaches, and team managers!
You know how it goes: a new semester, a new eligibility form. The Spring
2009 Intercollegiate Athletics Eligibility Form is now
available on the NCTTA website. Fill it out with the names of the
players on your team and take it to your school's Registrar Office for
verification.
The Spring eligibility form must be
submitted to your division director at your first Spring tournament
or mailed to
NCTTA directly by February 23, whichever comes first. That
means if your first division tournament isn't until February 25, you'll
need to mail in your form before the 23rd (instead of giving it to
your division director). There's no separate Championships
eligibility form, the Spring eligibility form is used for the
Championships as well should your team qualify.
Your team can not participate at division tournaments if your form is
not in.
